Navigating Your Fertility Journey With Financial Ease.

Embarking on your IVF journey is a momentous step toward fulfilling your dreams of parenthood. At Capital Hill Medical, we not only celebrate your excitement but also understand the potential financial challenges that may arise during this journey. To empower you in your pursuit of parenthood, we've gathered an array of financial measures which serve to assist you during this time. Our goal is to ensure that your focus remains on the joyous prospects ahead with as little financial concern as possible.

Capital Hill Medical and Compass Fertility staff are knowledgeable around Medicare billing and will advise you on how to obtain the best possible Medicare rebate for your treatment.

  • Before beginning your fertility journey, it’s worth considering small ways to make the process more cost-effective. When speaking with your GP, ask for an indefinite referral to Dr Nicole Sides.

Typically, GP referrals expire 12 months from the date of first consult - by asking for an indefinite referral you can avoid this extra appointment fee once a year.

This will come in handy when thinking about expanding your family over the years.

If you have a partner, it’s a good idea to include them on the referral as well. This allows Nicole to manage both sides of the fertility assessment, such as co-ordinating semen analysis through Compass Fertility.

  • When you spend certain amounts in gap and out of pocket costs, you’ll reach “Medicare Safety Net Thresholds”. Once you’ve reached the thresholds, you’ll start getting higher Medicare benefits. This means you’ll get more money back for certain Medicare services.

By registering for the family safety net, you’ll accumulate a shared spend faster, thereby maximising your consult rebates.

  • Our patients living in NSW are entitled to greater assistance towards fertility treatment per the NSW Fertility Treatment Rebate.

At Capital Hill Medical, this includes eligible treatments such as scans and blood tests.

When referred onto Compass Fertility by Nicole, this can include up to $2000 back on eligible ART cycles.

The ACT Government does not currently offer a fertility rebate scheme like NSW. However, patients are encouraged to check for updates or policy changes, particularly when budgeting for longer-term treatment.

*The female patient undergoing fertility treatment must first register to be eligible for this scheme.

  • Private health insurance may cover parts of your hospital-related fertility care, such as egg collection or procedures performed under general anaesthetic, depending on your level of cover. It does not typically cover outpatient consultations, medications, or procedures like IUI.

In most cases, when a service is eligible for a Medicare rebate, it cannot also be claimed through private health insurance. Your insurer can provide a breakdown of what’s covered under “assisted reproductive services” and whether any waiting periods apply.
